Fall feels so alive, despite the dying back of so much. It’s when we make the big haul in from the garden beds and can and can and can… It’s when we plant garlic and lean on the the forecast, hoping to get one more day before a frost. The fateful freeze did indeed come last night. As I grabbed every single last pepper in the bed, it felt like an end, but it feels so full.
Excuse my silence this past week. We’ve been attempting to squeeze in all those things and more. The chore list in the garden is lengthy, and we drove along the St. Croix River for one last camping trip. The thing about Fall is that you really don’t know how long you have before the temps dip too low. Fall can be two weeks long, or two months long! So we do it all NOW.
I love getting in the woods with the kids. Our attempt to catch Fall color was part-success as the peak colors were still north of us. My hearty children did survive a night in the woods below freezing. While it helped that us four humans, plus our 60 lb dog all sleep in a three person backpacking tent, it was still very chilly! I became convinced that the next item on my knitting list should be a full body woolie for the wee babe.
May this Fall bring life to you and yours!

Our little guy did have a wool bodysuit when he was a baby. I loved that thing. It didn’t have a hood or feet, though. That would have made it even better. If you come up with a pattern, let me know!

Oh that sounds so nice! I have something for R that is long overdue, and she knows it, so I won’t get away with starting a project for E before I finish the one for R! I best dust off the needles!
